Purchasing a Vintage car was new territory for me. During my months long research into this acquisition I kept coming back to a car that Tom had for sale. He was very patient and answered all my questions, educating me as we went along. Ultimately, I decided to purchase the car and flew out to RI where Tom picked me up at the airport and subsequently help me inspect the car and identify some needed maintenance before driving the car home. His knowledge of the brand was priceless and he is very well connected with resources. Tom assisted with locating and acquiring some needed bushings and helped with the installation. He literally went the “extra mile” in all respects and I would not hesitate to purchase another car from him.

When I decided to sell my 1938 Packard Coupe, there was not anyone other than Tom for the job. Having known Tom for many years, I know him to be a knowledgeable and trustworthy car guy. He found the perfect new owner who also enjoys driving their cars. Tom went the extra mile by picking up the prospective buyer at the airport and spending a few days making sure the Packard was completely ready as the now, new owner was planning to drive the Packard back home halfway across the US.

Used car dealers? Ugghh! Right? Well, not Tom. He was completely honest, open and helpful. When he first sent pictures, they showed the flaws. When we agreed on a price, he wouldn’t sell the car until I had an independent inspection. When the inspection revealed some problems, Tom fixed them. It was a great experience form start to finish. If Tom tells you something, it’s the truth.

Last October, while participating in the Audrain Museum Car week in Newport, Rhode Island, my nicely restored 1939 Buick Roadmaster Convertible Sedan (Model 80C) experienced some complicated electrical problems. Adding to the issues is that I had shipped the car from my home in California and, therefore, did not know any good mechanics in the area. Several local Collectors including two restorers from out of town for the event referred me to restorer Tom Laferriere as a very reliable mechanic and restorer from a nearby town. I phoned him and he agreed to take on my car and I left it with him and flew back home to California. Within a week Tom had solved the problem as a loose wire in the ignition and starter assembly. He even sent me a video and detailed explanation of the repair. I had owned the car for 14 years after restoration and had been thinking of selling the car. Once again, Tom came through for me and sold the car for an acceptable price in a relatively short time. He was very easy to work with, kept me informed and is a genuine nice guy. Needed to sell a high-quality 1914 vehicle for a museum. My occupation limits my time for outside project so I needed somebody who I could work with online and felt that I could trust. Had to recommendation from a well known quality restorer that led me to Tom. Had a nice discussion upfront and set a price which Tom could meet with a buyer. Vehicle was sold, and there was no issues no problems no frictions no “I’ll get back to you“ leaving me in the dark for days . I walked away, feeling that I had worked with somebody who was trustworthy and honest. The vehicle found a nice home and I could walk away feeling that I helped the museum project.
