1972 Baldwin Motion Moray GT

In the late 1960s, Joel Rosen’s Motion Performance speed shop stood as the premier destination for serious automotive enthusiasts on the East Coast. Teaming up with Baldwin Chevrolet on Long Island, Joel embarked on crafting high-performance street racers from brand-new Camaros, Novas, Chevelles, and Corvettes. Between 1967 and 1974, they produced hundreds of vehicles under the Motion brand, including the exceedingly rare 1972 Moray GT Corvette, a one-of-a-kind specimen now available.

What sets the Moray GT apart is its amalgamation of parts from various Motion packages. Its front end design mirrors the Motion Maco Shark, featuring a clamshell hood with a recessed grille and concealed headlights. The rear design draws from the Motion Manta Ray, showcasing an extended sloping rear window with custom glass and a prominent spoiler. Inside, Motion’s custom interior adorns the Moray GT with button-tucked diamond-patterned seats, door panels, and dashboard. Motion plaques can be found throughout the vehicle, from the hood to the cockpit and even gracing the valve covers beneath the hood.

Under the hood, the Moray GT houses the factory LS5 454 engine with an estimated output of 475 horsepower. An Edelbrock aluminum intake and a Holley carburetor sit atop the engine, while Hooker headers and sidepipes facilitate ample airflow for the substantial V8 powerplant. The 454 cubic inch V8 is paired with an M22 Rock Crusher transmission and a 3.73:1 positraction rear end.

Following a meticulous restoration that returned the Moray GT to its original splendor, Joel Rosen added the ultimate touch of authenticity by personally inspecting the Corvette and leaving his signature on the driver’s side T-top panel and in the center of the dashboard.

This one-of-a-kind custom Corvette is currently is now listed and the seller is open to offers, so don’t miss your chance to own one of the rarest Baldwin Motion Corvettes ever constructed and drive off into the sunset in automotive history.
