1928 Pontiac 6-28 Coupe
Series 6-28. Body Style 8250. 40 bhp, 186.5 cu. in. L-head inline six-cylinder engine, three-speed manual transmission, semi-elliptical leaf spring suspension, semi-floating rear axle, and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes. Wheelbase: 110 in.
By 1928, the future was looking bright for Pontiac; after only two years of production, there were 145,000 examples on the road, and by the end of the calendar year, they would be joined by another 130,000. Many changes were implemented for the 1928 model year, both mechanically and visually improving the popular brand. Replacing the Chief mascot was a Brave who resided on a taller, narrower, yet deeper radiator. The headlights were made larger and the front fenders had a deep crown and beaded edges. This bold front-end treatment perfectly complemented the car’s sweeping lines and well-proportioned styling. The frame was all new, as was the front axle, and a new steering gear made the car easier to drive. Engine modifications were extensive, as a new Carter updraft carburetor was mated to a larger intake manifold, a higher compression cylinder head was installed, and a new Oakland muffler was installed.
This local handsome coupe offered here was cosmetically restored some years ago. While the restoration has acquired a patina, it is still very presentable and would be appropriate for local shows and cruise nights and cruises around town. The interior combines both original and reupholstered sections as needs. Accessories include varnished wooden artillery wheels and a single rear-mounted spare tire.
