Click to EnlargeA complete new body was constructed with a new bonnet, firewall set back, steering column lowered and beautifully deep buttoned green leather seats front and rear. The whole project is styled on a 1915 Mercedes 90, which had a mere 9 litre motor. This of course retains its original 14.5 litre, which has never been apart and shows no sign of wear. Rebuilt gear box and clutch, shortened shaft between engine and gear box, original differential, the paint finish to the body is a mat black “barn find”.

The chassis is shortened by 13 inches, lowered the radiator by 2” and set the firewall back 6”. A  new body was built, steel skin over timber frame, new bonnet and guards. New sprockets are 50% larger with new chains, car now goes 100kmh on freeway. We fitted 25” rims with lock rings, the original wheel centers are inside the aluminum wheel covers. All as per the 1915 car that inspired it, pictured above.

We decided to do a “barn find finish”. Deep buttoned green leather makes for grand and comfortable travel.  The car carries the original LaFrance lights, the large search light and the working siren.

The car will fit into a 20' container and will ship to any reasonable port.  After years of exciting motoring it is now time for a change and I invite expressions of interest.

This is surely unique.
